Stunell urges shoppers to use small local shops this Christmas and New Year4.22.31pm GMT Wed 21st Dec 2005 Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell has urged people to use their local small shops when doing their Christmas and January Sales shopping this year. Mr Stunell encouraged local residents to support local businesses, saying: "The hundreds of small shops in communities across Stockport offer choice, diversity and quality to local residents and help our local economy. "Try to support your local independent shops this Christmas season - you could buy your turkey from a local butchers, presents from one of the great number of small specialist shops, or bargains from Stockport's independent shops in the January Sales. "You can enjoy a traditional and fun festive shopping experience by supporting Stockport's small shops this Christmas and at the same time you will be helping to preserve the diversity of the communities and shopping centres around Stockport."
